Lieutenant General Anwar Ali Hyder (Retired) , Minister for Defence & Defence Production
Lieutenant General Anwar Ali Hyder (Retired) was commissioned in a Frontier Force Regiment in March 1984. In his military career spanning over thirty seven years he attained diverse experience in the fields of planning, organization, management and administration. He is a graduate of Command and Staff College, Quetta, National Defence University Islamabad and US Army War College, Pennsylvania. He did MSc War Studies from National Defence University Islamabad and MSc Strategic Studies from US Army War College, Pennsylvania. He had the privilege of serving in various prestigious command, instructional and staff assignments in Pakistan Army. He served as Adjutant General at General Headquarters, President National Defence University and Director General Staff Duties at Chief of Army Staff Secretariat. He commanded two Infantry Battalions, an Infantry Brigade and an Infantry Division. He also served as Chief of Staff, Corps and Grade 1 Staff Officer at Chief of General Staff Secretariat and Military Operations Directorate. In the capacity of Adjutant General he worked as Chairman Army Welfare Trust and was a member Board of Governors of Fauji Foundation and all its commercial entities. He also planned and supervised country wide mega Askari Housing Projects and provided policy direction to all DHAs of the country. After retirement from Pakistan Army in 2019 he served as Chairman NAPHDA from June 2019 to November 2022. He was awarded COAS Commendation Card in 1990 and Hilal-e-Imtaiz (Military) in March 2014 for his meritorious services in Pakistan Army. He is presently the Federal Minister of Defence and Defence Production in the Caretaker Government.
