H.E Dr.Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Minister of State of Defence Affairs of Qatar along with a delegation called on Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif here in Ministry of Defence today. Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif welcomed the dignitary and conveyed that Pakistan attaches great value to its relations with Qatar.
Minister also mentioned that the earlier visit of His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar to Pakistan in March 2015, Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s visit to Qatar in February 2016 and recent visit of President of Pakistan proved fruitful to enhance the bilateral relations including military and defence cooperation between the two countries.
The Defence Minister informed the delegates that Pakistan desires to strengthen its relations with Qatar on a long term basis. He offered that Pakistan can extend all possible technical help and assistance to MoD Qatar in establishing their own facilities for manufacturing military hardware on ToT basis.
Minister mentioned that Pakistan-Qatar Staff Talks is an established forum between the two Armed Forces and will further strengthen the relations of the countries. Minister stated that Pakistan is looking forward for an early posting of Defence Attaché at Qatar Embassy Islamabad.
H.E Mr.Khalid showed keen interest in learning about Pakistan potential of manufacturing Super Mashshak aircraft and JF-17 Thundar aircraft at PAC Kamra.
The visiting dignitary acknowledge the scope of cooperation in the field of defence industry between the two countries and desired to undertake the joint ventures in the respective field on progressive basis.
Minister extended the invitation to attend IDEAS 2016 being held in the last week of November 2016. Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Defence thanked for agreeing to transfer the Sea King aircraft after their disposal from QEAF to PN, and expressed the desire for the continuation of Sea King simulator training to PN.
