MESSAGE OF FEDERAL MINISTER FOR DEFENCE KHAWAJA MUHAMMAD ASIF, ON THE EVE OF DEFENCE DAY OF PAKISTAN

MESSAGE OF FEDERAL MINISTER FOR DEFENCE KHAWAJA MUHAMMAD ASIF,
ON THE EVE OF DEFENCE DAY OF PAKISTAN

(6TH SEPTEMBER 2016)

The Defence Day of Pakistan reminds us of the ultimate sacrifices rendered by our Armed Forces for the defence of the motherland in the war of September, 1965. We hold in great esteem the bravery of our warriors and are profoundly indebted to all SHUHADA and GHAZIS for creating a glorious and unforgettable chapter in the history of Pakistan by thwarting the nefarious designs of enemy and turned her aggression into defeat.

Pakistan has traveled a long way towards progress and strength since 1965 and now our defence is impregnable. Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and is determined towards attaining regional peace. Over the years concerted efforts have been made for self-reliance in the field of defence and the country has made long strides in that direction. The Government is fully cognizant of the requirements of its Armed Forces to meet the security dictates of the motherland. As regards the ongoing operation ZARB-E-AZB, we are fully committed to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestation.

Let us renew our pledge on this historic day to remain united, alert, vigilant and ready for the defence of the country at all costs. May Allah give us the courage and strength to live up to the expectations of our beloved nation.
